英国卡迪夫大学语言课延期和押金政策更新

卡迪夫大学延期和押金政策

卡迪夫大学允许已经完成12周，10周，和8周语言课（线上）的同学，将2020年语言课成绩延期到2021年9月。

延期的条件是需要在2021年学术正课开课前，完成一个为期四周的免费的，强制性的线上进修课程。该课程将于2021年6月至9月初开放，虽然该课程是必修课，但无需参加考试，只需要学生在家中参与并完成课程即可。确认完成该必修课程后，学生将获得无条件录取。

在2020年夏季参加并完成12 Week PLUS 语言课（原20周语言课）的同学，语言课成绩需要达到至少40％，才可以将成绩推迟并申请2021年9月入学。

需要强调的是，尽管12周，10周和8周语言课成绩可以延期到2021年9月入学，但语言课Offer本身不允许延期。如果要参加2021年语言课，需要等到2021年语言课开放申请时重新申请。

已经拿到卡迪夫大学商学院，新闻，媒体与文化学院，和计算机科学与信息学院三个学院课程录取的同学，如果要延期到2021年9月入学，需要在2020年12月31日前缴纳1000英镑押金。

申请将所有其他课程的入学时间推迟到2021年9月的学生，必须在2021年7月31日之前交纳£1,000的押金，以保留其学术课程的名额。

Please find below some important updates for applicants who want to defer their offers to September 2021.
 
Defer requests for academic courses
We understand that some applicants are concerned about the likelihood that they will be able to arrive in Cardiff University for their academic studies beginning in September. While we would still like to encourage applicants to join us this academic year, we will allow all applicants to defer their offer if they wish to do so. We are not processing defer requests yet but will start to do so shortly.
 
Defer requests for pre-sessional programme
We understand that some pre-sessional applicants are currently concerned about the likelihood that they will be able to arrive at Cardiff University for their academic studies beginning in September. In order to provide reassurance to our pre-sessional offer holders, we can confirm that students who successfully complete the 12, 10 and 8-week courses* will be able to defer their pre-sessional results in 2020 to meet English Language entry requirements in September 2021.
 
Our pre-sessional programmes are designed to support students in meeting their English language requirements as part of their offer to study an academic programme in September 2020, and we hope that this will be possible. However, if after the completion of our pre-sessional English programmes a student who has achieved the required grades to progress onto their academic programme wishes to defer their academic offer due to COVID-19, we will allow the student to defer their 12, 10 and 8-week* pre-sessional results in 2020 to meet their English language requirements in September 2021. 
 
As part of this deferral process, students will receive the following condition within their academic offer: “Completion of a compulsory 4 week free online refresher programme”
 
We recognise that students deferring their offers to 2021 may have been away from the familiar environment of studying for some time - we are therefore pleased to be able to offer them a free online, self-access English Language refresher programme. We will require these students to undertake this programme in order to ensure that they are well prepared for re-engaging with study by updating their language skills and building their confidence. The programme will be available to access from June to early September 2021, and will take up to 4 weeks to complete. The course is compulsory but there will not be any final test. Students will just be required to engage and complete the online materials from home – they will not need to travel to Cardiff. Upon confirmed completion of the free 4 week online refresher programme students will receive an unconditional offer for their academic programme.
 
* Please note that students joining the 12 week Pre-sessional Plus course in summer 2020 will only be allowed to defer their results to September 2021 entry if they have passed the programme with at least 40%.
 
We do not permit applicants to defer their offer for the pre-sessional programme. Applicants who wish to join the pre-sessional next summer should reapply when applications for summer 2021 open.
  
Deposit Deadlines
Applicants who are deferring their place to September 2021 and have an offer for a programme within the following three schools, will be required to pay their £1,000 deposit by the 31st December 2020 to reserve their place on their academic programme:
•    Cardiff University Business School
•    School of Journalism, Media and Culture
•    School of Computer Science and Informatics
 
Applicants who are deferring their place to September 2021 for all other programmes** will be required to pay their £1,000 deposit by the 31st July 2021 to reserve their place on their academic programme. 
** There are a small number of programmes with earlier deposit deadlines as standard, these will remain the same.  
 
The deposit deadlines above will also apply to applicants who have completed their pre-sessional programme this summer and defer their offer to 2021.
